The New Lexicon offers practitioners a sustained framework in which to deepen the artistic and intellectual dimensions of their work. Over several months, participants can move beyond the compressed exchange of a single workshop and develop questions through presentation, response, revision, experimentation, and public articulation.
The programme provides an opportunity to clarify philosophical commitments implicit in artistic decisions; advance projects through substantive feedback; develop more precise languages for presenting and contextualizing work; test artistic and theoretical propositions within an international research community; and encounter methods, aesthetic positions, and conceptual traditions beyond one’s usual field of reference.
Participants can situate their practices within wider historical, philosophical, technological, institutional, ecological, and political debates without displacing the specificity of artistic work. The residency may generate new directions, research questions, presentation formats, relationships, collaborations, publications, performances, and lectures. Its value lies not in delivering one model of success, but in supporting participants to formulate stronger questions, make more deliberate decisions, and communicate the significance of their practices with greater precision.
